Advocacy Priorities : #YouthsDeservedToBeEmpowered #EndSGBV #ChildEducation #ClimateAction

1. Youths Deserved To Be Empowered: Statistics has shown that a
large chunk of Nigerian youths are very talented and
full of potentials but such talents are unfortunately wasted.
These potentials can be
channeled towards individual and national development. Lack of
competencies,
entrepreneurial skills and disconnection from societal and economic
mainstreams
have negated young people from living meaningful and productive
lives.
youths are in the majority and form a very strong formidable force in
the society we live, study, but are not empowered
while in school and after they graduated. Hence, they rarely
contribute to sustainable development of their
communities. To address this problem, three research questions and
three hypotheses were formulated to guide
the study. The design of the study was ex-post facto. The sample of
the study was one hundred and forty six
(146) youths drawn out of a population of five hundred (500) youths
in the study area. The data was
analyzed using Pearson product moment correlation analysis. The
result of the analysis showed that when youths
in higher educational institutions and Graduates are empowered, they
will contribute to sustainable development of their communities.
Based on the conclusion, the paper recommended that government,
parents and stakeholders
should address the issue of youth empowerment to enable them
acquire skills for
empowerment in the society.
2. Sexual Gender Based Violence: About 24% of girls complete
secondary School. Over 70% of Women are unable to read and write
Within my State.Gender-based violence (GBV) affects different
demographic groups. The vulnerable groups in society (namely,
women, children, youth, elderly and the physically challenged) are
disproportionately affected. GBV has devastating consequences at
social, economic, and personal levels because of the physical
injuries, psycho social harm and general loss of productivity across
different spheres. This should Be fight.
3. Child Education: women and children formed 70 % of Nigeria
population and that taking proper care of the percentage would lead
to building a better nation that is capable of attaining all its intended
developmental goals. the low literacy level in the North saying 93% of
Northern girls lack secondary education. 80% challenges bedeviling
girl child, including health, could be addressed if government
channelled more resources to the education of those in the group. “If
girls are educated, many problems will be addressed. Educated
women will not allow their children to miss the routine immunization.
Education of women will also take good care of their children,
4. Climate Action: Nigeria’s climate has been changing, evident in: increases in temperature; variable rainfall; rise in sea level and flooding; drought and desertification; land degradation; more frequent extreme weather events; affected fresh water resources and loss of biodiversity. The durations and intensities of rainfall have increased, producing large runoffs and flooding in many places in Nigeria. This is likely due to the need for much greater implementation of mitigation and adaption measures in Nigeria. In addition, while there is some discussion about necessary capacity building at the individual, group and community level to engage in climate change responses, there is much less attention given to higher levels of capacity at the state and national level.
